A few more artists have been announced for the 2011 Festival, bringing the total to 6 main stage acts and 2 gazebo acts! Check out the 2011 Lineup Page for the latest lineup announcements.
Festival producer Danny Melnick has announced that “The festival is 99% booked. We are waiting for 1 more artist to confirm and we expect to announce the complete line-up in late January.” So expect more news in the near future!
Believe it or not, the 2011 festival is only 7 and a half months away! A longtime reader of the site emailed me to point out that lineup news is beginning to trickle out via Pollstar. Dee Dee Bridgewater is expected to play Saturday.

The Times Union recently published an article summarizing 2010 SPAC attendance numbers. Of note to Jazz Fest fans:
Jazz audiences were 4 percent smaller [compared to last year], at 11,491 over two days, and income dropped by 2 percent.”
If I recall correctly, the Festival weather was better in 2009 than 2010. I imagine this could easily account for the decline in attendance.

An article in Friday’s Saratogian explained that the US World Cup Match will be televised at the festival.
Jazz aficionados torn by their love of soccer need not be concerned about attending the 33rd annual Freihofer’s Jazz Festival on Saturday and missing out on the World Cup match between the U.S. team and Ghana.
Due to the public’s tremendous interest in the match, Saratoga Performing Arts Center will stream the match live during the Jazz Festival on four large screen TVs in the Hall of Springs’ indoor/outdoor Jazz Bar.

Festival Producer Danny Melnick will appear on WGBH FM in Boston, MA and WTCC FM in Springfield, MA this week to discuss some of the artists scheduled to perform at the festival.
