@DJ Lady Salsa
She was a headliner for the WestOakLane Jazz Festival in Mt. Airy (Philadelphia) this past weekend. She is a great one to see perform. Am somewhat suprised she is not on the bill, as this lineup is very similar to the WOL fest we just had.
was mint condition suppose to perform?
Esperanza Spaulding would be great at Saratoga, saw at the Montreal Jazz festival she is something! Looking forward to this years lineup!
No Steve. Jamie will be in Europe that weekend.

Is Jamie Cullum playing?
I need the number to the Ticket office so that I can purchase my tickets right away. Thank You
It is a pleasure to attend such a great event, that i’ve been attending for 20yrs. or more along with family members that passed away and friends and love ones I love it!!!!!!!
Hi,
Spring is finally here and I am so excited. this festival falls on my birthdayday weekend this year I am 58 years young and wiser. The line up is absolutely amazing!!!!! Thank you for bringing jazz so close to home.
i live in the small town of Ellenville.
PS : Could you tell me where there is a close tent campground.
Thanks Again This is always my first jazz concert of the summer season
Peace Doraine
The first time I saw Al Jarreau he was the opener for Tower of Power at the Santa Monica Civic auditorium. At that time he was little known and backed by a trio. Saturday’s line-up is shaping up nicely.
@Guy Cameron
SPAC has been slow with ticketing information for all of their performances this year. Group sale info for Jazz Fest is available at http://www.spac.org/groupsales.cfm but I have not heard anything about individual tickets. Apparently group sale two day passes are available until 5/9/10.
When will the tickets go on sale? And, will there be the “Two Day” advanced tickets which normally are mail ordered from the box office by May 15th. The Buffalo contingent is ready to order tickets now.

Thanx, I wrote to George Duke. He’s the one that informed me. Thanx for the confirmation. See ya there:)
Thank you, kindly! I shouldn’t but I will… YES – Al J & George Duke are confirmed for Saturday night. That’s it. No more from me til the press release is out. (We edited it today!)

I heard the same rumor re George Duke/ Al Jarreau. We will find out soon. One thing all Saratoga jazzfest fans know for sure is that Danny Melinck and his company Absolutely Live! will give us a hell of good weekend. He has filled George Wein’s shoes well and for that I am thankful.
Gil Scott-Heron it wouldn’t be nice to hear “Lady Day and John Coltrane” on the hill
There’s soo many performers you can’t go wrong with any of the forementioned. But I would like to see “Four Play”, “Yellowjackets”
and up and coming “Four 80 East”
I understand George Duke Al jarreau will be performing. Any truth. Also it’s about time for “Take 6” and “Pieces fo a Dream”.
make this event exciting

Hi Friends – we are announcing the complete line-up late this week or early next. (We are trying to get the release out this week!) It’s great to see everyone’s suggestions – some will be on the festival – some I tried but couldn’t get – and some, well…. 🙂 Spring is close, the clocks say so, and we’re gonna’ have a great time in June! keep groovin’ high – DM
a few suggestion for the line up…
a jazzy set by Me’shell Ndegéocello
Bobby McFerrin, I have always wanted to see him in an outdoor venue.
Youssou N’Dour, who does not seem to be touring this summer, or Baaba Maal, who is touring the US this summer and is playing the New Orleans Jazz Fest, would also be great additions to the festival.
I just was speaking to Frankie, he will not be at the Essence Jazz Fest this year and would like to play at your fest…Give the Man a call Danny! I’m sure that you guys can come to a agreement, and your attendance will be record breaking with Frankie on the bill. Book Frankie! Book Frankie! Book Frankie!
How about Diana Krall? Any possibility? My friend Fran and I have been going for the past 15 years. We buy inside seats “just in case” we have bad weather or want to see one or more particular artists. We look forward to this event from the day after it ends until the next time it begins. Thank you for all the great times! We lost Fran’s guy Price last year but went anyway in his memory.
It is me again – I know I am pushing Jill Scott to be in the lineup, but I just found out she will be appearing at a Madison Square Garden concert on June 25th, maybe she can make her way to Saratoga for the Sunday show???
I agree with the Hugh Masekela suggestion. He will rock the Allegany Mountains!
My husband and I look forward to this all winter.
Would love to see Pieces of a Dream (featuring Phil Perry),Kirl Elling again, Patrice Rushin, Michael Franks would be a treat, but your line up is always great. I miss the 12n-12m on Sat and 12n-10pm on Sunday, it got over too early the last couple of years.
Can’t wait for Danny to announce the line up. Stefon Harris and Blackout will be my highlight.
Good work on Ahmad!!
He is fabulous.
Too bad we lost Maynard, I always thought he would have been the best closing act.
How about the VJO or the Dizzy Big band?
What amount James Ingram, Tommy Sims, Wendy Moten, Patti Austin? …who all appear on Michael McDonald’s dvd ‘a gathering of friends’…
Great additions one and all…in your 2010 lineup. DW
I like your program start. Can you include: George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Lenny White, Chick Corea, Kem, Mbasa, Greg Philenganes & Conjunto Libre. I loved the addition of Spanish Harlem Orchestra last year. Any or all of these artist would make take this weekend off the chart.
Thanks, Anna
I would love to see Maysa and Chris Botti and his band. Boney James is my favorite and always give a good show.
How about Milton Nascimento, Michael Franks or Ivan Lins? They are great showmen with infectious music.
We’re almost done booking and hope to announce the complete line-up next week or the week after. A few more sneak previews for y’all — Al DiMeola’s World Sinfonia group on Saturday & Ramsey Lewis Trio on Sunday! Some great young new talent on gazebo both days too. I can’t wait for summer already! Thanks for the continued support.
I recently seen Hugh Masekela in South Africa and he would be a wonderful addition to any Jazz Fest, also Joshua Redman.
Gladys Knight,Rachelle Ferrell and Jill Scott would be great additions to the show. They each are mesmerizing
talents with unforgetable performances. Layla Hathaway is also awesome.
Would love to see Maze, would bring high energy like Charlie Wilson did a few years ago. Also Kenny Garrett, Roy Hargrove, Erykah Badu, like to see Lizz Wright come back. Sade is back and touring, she would be great!!
Frankie Beverly & Maze will pack the facility, as well as rock the house.
Gerald Albrights webpage is listing “SAX FOR STAX featuring Gerald Albright and Kirk Whalum” on Saturday.
Another visit by Hiromi would be great to see.
Looking forwrd to attending as always… Have a few suggestions that would be great to see performaning…Jill Scott, Andre Ward, Pamela Williams, Maysa, Walter Beasley, Chick Corea, Charlie Hunter, et el,, Marcus Miller, Everette Harp, Dave Koz, David Benoit,Geri Allen, Bobby Lyle, just to name a few…
I would love to see Jill Scott or Rachelle Ferrell. It has been too long since Rachelle appreared, and Jill has never made an appearance.
What about Chris Botti and his band? Wonderful show in 2008
Fourplay would be an awesome act to see at the festival !!
I’d enjoy seeing David Sanborn in the 2010 line up, as well as Joshua Redman, and for exercise, Maceo Parker.
Guys – Ahmad is only on Saturday. And Dee Dee just had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict so we won’t have her back this year. Rachel will do opening set on main stage and another on gazebo on Sunday. She’s got Omar Hakim on drums! And this is first time Taj and Ahmad have appeared on the festival!!! – more very soon 🙂 – Danny
Pollstar reporting the pianist Rachel Z for Sunday. Likely a gazebo act.
Pollstar is also showing Rachel Z on Sunday.
Pollstar reporting Ahmad Jamal both days of the festival.
This is a pretty good start to the new year. Taj Mahal will provide an excellent show. Keep up the good news, Lou!
I can’t wait to see Taj Mahal again, he is truly amazing in concert.
